Hey, I think Shenzhen needs some more high-rise buildings, don’t you?

How’s this for size? –

The Skyscraper City site alerted us to this new construction called the Feng Long Center, which English-only speakers in Shenzhen would probably otherwise know nothing about until its full 399m popped into view in, say, 6 months.

Nice building but too much resemblance to the Melbourne Central building in Melbourne. Proposal 2 looks too ordinary. Shenzhen government should ask for more proposals. Shenzhen without oil like Dubai but has been growing insanely fast for the past decades growing at 16% a year.I think Shenzhen desperately needs a mega project to symbolise its glory also.

The glory of Shenzhen is in its karaoke bars, surely? I suppose a building of this size will have several.

If you are applying for a China visa from inside China, you will have to fill out a form like the following:

You have to affix a Chinese style red background passport photo, in nonstandard size - bring your own scissors and glue…

You may also have to fingerprint the application if the officials are in that sort of mood.

You shouldn’t have to fill out this form since you can’t be in China without a visa. However if you have overstayed your previous visa or you are applying for a visa extension you may have to complete these forms yourself at the public security bureau or in a travel agency.

The best way to get a visa of course is… not in China. Doing it from Hong Kong is amazingly easy and involves no form-filling whatsoever.
